From the moment I walked in front of the gallery I felt the presence of love and compassion. and from the first smile on her face i knew it was pure and true. i actually had the chance to talk to other professors that gave me an in to the way that Sister created some of her most beautiful works.
craft:
the two images up above are completely different when it comes to specific creation. the first image is a picture of one of sisters flower paintings. the second picture is an example of one of her enamel type of artwork. i learned that this type of artwork is created by heating many different shards in a small little oven, the image is good if your good at it.
composition:
the way that Sister paints her flowers really shows what she wants the viewers to see. she fills the frames with the flowers almost to the point where you feel like picking up the painting to let the rest flow out over the edges. the second image is so beautiful, it's a nice collage of very secular items. it shows her faith and believing.
concept:
the only reason that i know of sisters concept is because she told us. the flowers are so beautiful and she stated that the reason for flowers was, not only because she likes them, but because they express beauty and love. she stated that just looking at her flowers in the wintertime you feel the beauty seeping out. her religious images are most likely focused because of her dedication to God.
and i learned that all the little blocks that are lined up around the main hall by the switchboard were designed by her and one of her classes her at SXU.
